Tool Trainings

To use our bigger tools in the space (our 3D printer and sewing machines) we require that people go through a training.

Trainings are a 1 hour 1:1 where you make and take home a project. It costs $100 for non-members, $50 for members, and is free to anyone who becomes a volunteer.

For sewing machine trainings:

Bringing your own fabric and thread is strongly encouraged. Bring anything from an old t-shirt, bed sheet, curtain, or any specific item/project you want to learn with! Ideas include:

  • Those pants you’ve been needing to hem
  • That shirt with a hole
  • The curtain you’ve been wanting to turn into a tote bag
  • Dress that doesn’t quite fit

If you opt to use our materials, you will:

  • Learn about the machine and how it works
  • Thread machine and troubleshoot issues
  • Cut, pin, and sew fabric
  • Make a button closure (learn to sew a button and make a buttonhole on machine)
  • Make and take home a coin purse!

For 3D Printer trainings:

Please bring a computer. Material will be included and you will leave with a little doodad 🙂

You will:

  • Learn about the machine and how it works
  • Load filament and troubleshoot issues
  • Download and use slicing software
  • Print and take home a doodad!
