We’re putting together a makerspace.

Patchwork is a community makerspace that fosters local mutual aid and the solidarity economy. After years of organizing in the neighborhood, we are making our dream space a reality.

We’ve opened a pop-up space right on Dupont Circle, at 1506 19th St NW, on the 3rd floor. Here’s what we offer:

  • Classes, Workshops, & Skill-shares
  • Community meeting space
  • Tool library
  • Shared makerspace
  • Music practice and performance space
  • Reservable event space

Patchwork fills a critical gap as an independent organization that is of, by, and for the working-class community. Our goal is to purchase a physical space in Ward 2 to be a hub that fosters creativity, collaboration, and cross-pollination among community members and organizations committed to a more free and caring world.

    Last weekend was a good reminder of why we do what we’re doing: building skills, community spaces, and community.     After much prep, moving shelves and tables around, moving drum kits in and out of the space, fixing electricity, setting up a 3d printer, tried to figure out who brought the keyboard, sewing machines, arts and crafts supplies, and hanging banners.     Wow thank you to everyone who showed up Friday night. We had over 60 people come through, definitely maxing out how many people could use the space. The musicians were all amazing.
